Built in 1972, Gateway Peninsula is a small townhome-style community located on a small peninsula off of Kawaihae Street in Hawai'i Kai. This community houses 17 3-bedroom and 22 4-bedroom 2-story townhomes across 7 different buildings, with more interior space than most other residences in Hawai'i Kai. Most of the residences in Gateway Peninsula also have a private dock for boats, which allows boating enthusiasts to easily untie their vehicle and calmly cruise the Hawaiian waters.
Though this community is located right next to Kalaniana'ole Highway, Gateway Peninsula makes up for this through its gorgeous varying views of the marina, Pacific Ocean, Koko Head, the Ko'olau Mountains, and incredibly colorful sunsets.
Located a 5-minute drive from central Hawai'i Kai, Gateway Peninsula is in an excellent location in terms of proximity to all of Hawai'i Kai's greatest offerings. Take a quick 5-minute drive (or even walk!) to Keahole Street and you will find a plethora of large shopping locations, including Costco, City Mill, Ross, Longs Drugs, and Safeway. These same plazas also offer a host of different restaurants, including the Hawai'i Kai branch of the famous Roy's restaurant.
A bit further down Kalaniana'ole Highway and you will come across the Koko Marina Center, which houses a variety of amazing restaurants, small boutiques, cafés, a movie theater, and large stores like Petco and Walgreens.
Families with students will also find this neighborhood convenient as schools are less than a 10-minute drive away, with access to Koko Head Elementary School and Henry J. Kaiser High School on Lunalilo Home Road and Kamilo'iki Elementary School a bit further Northeast.
Not to mention, the popular Koko Head Railway Trailhead hike is less than a 10 minute drive away, and a bit further are popular beaches and ocean-front spots like China Walls, Sandy Beach, and Makapu'u Beach. Maunalua Beach Park, however, is right down the street.
