Welcome to Hokua, an ultra-luxury condominium located in the heart of Kakaako and completed in 2006. This luxury Honolulu condo is renowned as one of the first, premier ultra-luxury high-rises on Oahu; setting a new standard for luxury developers in the area. Unlike most condos at the time, Hokua offers spacious floor plans with unobstructed ocean views, high ceilings, and resort-style amenities.
Developed by Kobayashi Group and The Macnaughton Group, and designed by Benjamin Woo Architects, this $210 million project features 248 residences and a mixed-use podium that includes Bank of Hawaii, salons, office spaces, and 2 Kakaako restaurants; Tango Cafe & Panya Bistro.
Hokua is located at 1288 Ala Moana Boulevard and is one of only a handful of Kakaako condos on coveted "First Row," securing unobstructed ocean views that will never change, as well as premier access to Ala Moana Beach Park and Kewalo's; the go-to surfing beaches in Kakaako. With its central location in the heart of the vibrant Kakaako neighborhood, Hokua offers residents the best of both worlds - urban living and beachside relaxation.
Kakaako has seen rapid transformation from the warehouse district of old to high-rise condos, trendy cafes, art galleries, and boutiques. Located between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, Kakaako is just minutes away from popular destinations such as the world-renowned Ala Moana shopping center, the sandy beaches of Ala Moana Beach Park, and the downtown financial district. This makes Hokua an ideal choice for those who want to be close to the action.
Hokua was long considered the flagship of luxury condo living in Honolulu until Ward Village, a 60-acre master plan by Howard Hughes, moved in right next door with plans to develop as many as 12 New Honolulu Condos. Through stunning architecture, refined interiors, and some of the most impressive resort amenities in the state, Ward Village quickly became the pinnacle of Honolulu luxury condo development. Coincidence or not, Hokua owners voted and approved a $3.5M investment towards refreshing the building amenities -- pulling Hokua back into the forefront of Kakaako's best condo lifestyles. Features of the Residences
The residences at Hokua feature timeless interiors, with 9’ ceilings and designed to feel like a single-family home rather than a condominium. There are no 1-bedrooms in the building, and the smallest 2-bedroom is over 1,500 SF, which is larger than most other condo buildings where a 1,000 SF 2-bedroom would be considered huge. You'll find original finishes of carpet and stone flooring, with Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen appliances. The "wet room" design of the bathrooms feature separated showers and free-standing tubs.
All units come with Lanais, although they are small (most are around 30sq), and some residents have criticized their size. However, the huge sliding glass doors help to open up the units a bit more. Hokua features a single-loaded design, with all units ocean-facing, ensuring spectacular ocean and park views for every unit. Views are unobstructed and will remain so as long as Ala Moana beach park does. You'll get to enjoy breathtaking sunset views, unobstructed Diamond Head views, and fireworks.
