Built in 1979, Hawaiian Monarch is a "condotel" housing 439 studio, 1-, and 2-bedroom unit configurations in Waikiki. Hawaiian Monarch is located right next to Kalakaua Avenue, which runs through the entirety of the Waikiki area and connects to the large shopping strip, Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo, and even Eastern Ala Moana. Because of this, guests of Hawaiian Monarch can walk or drive on just Kalakaua Avenue to reach many of the most popular spots in Waikiki.
Hawaiian Monarch is also one of the few Waikiki condos that allows owners to operate legal Honolulu vacation rentals.
Hawaiian Monarch sits near two of the entrances/exits to the main portion of Waikiki, these being the McCully Street Bridge and the Kalakaua Avenue Bridge. Thus, Hawaiian Monarch guests are easily able to take advantage of Waikiki's surrounding neighborhoods as well as Waikiki itself. Not to mention, Hawaiian Monarch guests can simply cross Kalakaua Avenue to reach Ala Moana Boulevard, then taking it all the way up to the famous Ala Moana Center. Sitting at the intersection of all of these locations gives guests the freedom to travel where and how they please, such as walking down Kalakaua Avenue to do some shopping or visiting Ala Moana Beach Park.
Much of the surrounding amenities and area can be traveled to and explored on foot, though having access to a car will mean that guests can easily drive down Kuhio Avenue or Kalakaua Avenue to visit Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo, or Kapi'olani Regional Park. Though these areas tend to be constantly packed with people, there are many opportunities around the area to park and grab a bite to eat or shop at places like the International Marketplace.
